While three of the accused, identified as Yogendra alias Raju, Sunil Kumar alias Sonu and Rahul Kumar, have been arrested, a search has been launched to nab the other two, identified as Jitendra and Manoj.

Police said the victim is an old friend of Jitendra. He knows the woman's landlord in Alipur. After separation from her husband in Agra, the victim had been staying with her parents at their rented accommodation in Alipur. A police officer pointed out that there were contradictions in the statements of the victim which were recorded separately before the police, magistrate and an NGO.

The victim called the police control room from a PCO booth located near Singhu border on January 2. A PCR van reached the spot and the victim told the police that she was dumped there after five men abducted her at 3 pm from Dayal market, drugged her and raped her at a house.

"She was immediately taken to Raja Harishchandra hospital where her medical examination confirmed rape. A case of kidnapping, rape and threatening with common intention was registered at the Alipur police station. While two of the accused were arrested from their residence in Bakhtawar village near Alipur, Rahul was nabbed from Alipur," said the senior officer.

In a separate incident, a 23-year-old BA final year student of Delhi University has alleged rape by her male friend who had promised to marry her. A case was registered on Monday at the Shakarpur police station and the accused, identified as Rahul Kashyap, was arrested. The victim came to know Kashyap while working together in a private company in Laxmi Nagar, police said.

Police said two men were also arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 22-year-old woman at a construction site near Jhandewalan temple in New Delhi on Monday.
