Reinforcing Delhi’s reputation as an unsafe city, six persons, including two senior citizens, were murdered on Sunday.
The murders — two separate incidents — took place in east Delhi and were discovered the next morning.
At 7.45am Monday, neighbours found 62-year-old businessman Bajrang Lal Bokadia, his driver, cook and domestic help murdered in his Vivek Vihar bungalow.
Bokadia was tied to a chair with his mouth gagged in his bedroom, which had been ransacked. He died of suffocation, the police said.
His three employees were found in the same room with their throats slit. Police are suspecting robbery or a personal enmity.
Eight kilometers away in Laxmi Nagar, an 85-year-old woman and her 55-year-old daughter were found dead at home by their domestic help at 9am. Their throats had been slit too. The police said it could be a case of property grab.
As news of the murders spread, residents protested alleging policing failure.
