In response to the story ‘Qureshi asked ex- CBI boss to help tainted firm’ published on July 21, 2014, Amar Pratap Singh, former director, Central Bureau of Investigation has clarified that Moin Qureshi, who till recently was president of the Doon School Old Boys Association is his friend and that to his knowledge, has never been the subject of a CBI investigation or any proceedings of a criminal nature.

Singh said that Qureshi had requested him to find out where a file regarding security clearance for a Meet and Greet service at the Delhi Airport, which he was negotiating for, was pending. “Discreet enquiries revealed that clearance was unlikely to be given. That was the end of the matter as far as I was concerned,” he said in a letter to HT.

Singh has said that a basement in a family property in Defence Colony was taken on fair market rent by the Doon School Old Boys Asssociation in September 2013 and is still functioning from the same premises and that the rental of the basement took place well after he demitted office as the CBI director in November 2012.

He said that he had already clarified to the correspondent that apart from rental of the family basement, he has no other financial or business dealings with Qureshi.
