After a long wait, heavy rain lashed Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

The city received 37.6 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. The showers hit the city at around 12 noon and lasted over two hours.
The temperature also came down to 35.3 degrees on Saturday as compared to 37.7 degrees on Friday but was still one degree above normal. The minimum was recorded at 29.1, two degrees above normal.
Despite the rain, the humidity remained on the higher side oscillating between a high of 92% and a low of 59%.
According to the weatherman, Sunday is expected to be cloudy. “Light rainfall or thundershowers may occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 35 and 26 degrees respectively,” a Met official said.
Saturday’s rain brought relief to hundreds of Delhiites.
“It has rained properly after a very long time this season. The humidity had become unbearable. At least after the rain, the temperatures and humidity have come down. There need to be more such days during the month of August,” said Ramesh Mandiyal, a resident of Rajendra Nagar, who brought his family to India Gate after the rain.
The city has seen a dry July this year with only only 103 mm of rainfall so far this season as opposed to an average of 210.6 mm - a deficit of 51%.
The monsoon, which reaches Delhi on June 29 usually, reached the city on July 4 this year.
