Monsoon finally arrived in the Capital on Thursday as 5.5 mm of rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30pm brought down mercury levels in the city.
The maximum temperature was at 32.7 °C, three below normal while the minimum temperature was at 26.1°C, one degree below normal. Delhiites also experienced high humidity with levels oscillating between 71% and 85%, said a Met department official.

“Monsoon has arrived in north India with Delhi and several parts of north India receiving widespread rain since Wednesday,” the official added.

On Friday, a partly cloudy sky is expected with rain and thundershowers possible in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 35°C and 26 °C respectively. Several rainy days are expected next week.

There is sufficient humidity and winds are flowing from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal — a typical sign of monsoon’s arrival in north India — the Met official said.
The monsoon is four days late this year since the normal date for south-west monsoon’s arrival in Delhi is June 29.
