The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested Mohammad Danish Ansari, a key Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative and an alleged close associate of the outfit's operational head in India Yasin Bhatkal, from Darbhanga in Bihar.

“Danish is a key catch. He will help us get the latest update on the regrouping of the IM,” said an NIA official.  Danish was picked up from his native village, Chakjora, in Darbhanga around 9 pm. He was also wanted by the Delhi police in its FIR against an IM module headed by Yasin Bhatkal.

Security agencies claim Danish Ansari provided shelter to Bhatkal, who is on the run.

The Delhi police had filed a chargesheet against 14 accused in the Darbhanga module case. Of the 14 accused, Danish and  an associate, Tehsin, had been absconding.
