Delhiites can expect some respite on Friday with the Met department forecasting some rain and a maximum temperature of 40°C. The relief, however, will be short lived as the temperatures are expected to soar to 44°C over the weekend again.

A dust storm and partly cloudy sky is also possible on Thursday, though the maximum temperature will remain at 43°C.

NCR also reeled under the heat wave on Tuesday, with Noida recording a maximum temperature of 45.1°C and Gurgaon sweltering at 45.7°C.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature for the Capital is expected to be around 44°C while the minimum will be around 30°C. The minimum temperature on Tuesday was around 28.1°C, normal for this time of the year.

At Palam, the temperature recorded Tuesday was 47°C, marginally lower than Sunday’s 47.8 °C, which broke a 62-year record.  On Monday, the mercury touched 45.5°C- the hottest June temperature in the last ten years.

The temperature crossed 45°C in 10 of the 18 observatories in Delhi NCR, missing the mark in the remaining 8 by only a few notches. The Capital, along with the rest of north India, has been in the grip of a heat wave for a week now.
