Delhi: 3 suicide attempts at metro stations

Three people tried to commit suicide at different Metro stations on Tuesday.

In the first incident, 25-year-old Sarita Sharma, mother of two children, jumped from the Udyog Nagar Metro station on the Inderlok-Mundka line in west Delhi around 9.15am. 

She fell on a man on bicycle and he too suffered injuries and admitted to a hospital.

“She jumped on to the road from the elevated metro station and suffered injuries. She was taken to a hospital where her condition is said to be out of danger,” said a CISF official, requesting anonymity.

Sharma is a resident of Peeragarhi in west Delhi and had a fight with her husband. Before jumping down from the Metro station, she had called her husband.

In the second incident, an 18-year-old girl was saved by passengers when she jumped in front of a train at Pragati Maidan Metro station.

She was found roaming around the platform. She jumped on the tracks as a train was approaching.

But passengers signalled to stop it and the girl was helped on to the platform. A suicide note was recovered from her,

The third incident was reported from Botanical Garden Metro station in Noida at 2.20 pm.

A 30-year-old man jumped on the road from the Metro station. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition was still critical.
