US first lady's India programme

US first lady Michelle Obama has two items on her itinerary separate from the President's.


In Mumbai, she will be visiting the library of Mumbai University, one of the oldest university libraries in India, at 6 pm on November 6, the day of Barack Obama's arrival in India.

Mumbai University was established in 1857 and the library became operational in 1880.

Michelle will then meet and interact with differently-abled children. The programme is organised by the NGO Making A Difference.

In New Delhi on November 8, she will visit the National Craft Museum, Pragati Maidan.  She will be at the museum from 10. 55 am to 12 noon.

After  paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, President Obama will be heading for official talks at Hyderabad House when the First Lady goes to the museum.

Delhi: HIV patient gets 7 years' jail for robbery

A Delhi court has sentenced an HIV-positive man and his wife to seven years in jail for robbery and house trespassing. The court said there were no grounds for leniency on account of health since such crimes were on the rise and needed to be curbed.
