No party is clean, but the BJP is far better than others. This was stated by BJP president Rajnath Singh at the inaugural session of the Himachal BJP’s three-day workshop that started in Palampur on Friday.
Maintaining that the Indian polity is witnessing a crisis of credibility as people’s point of view on political leaders has changed, Singh exhorted the party workers not to allow it to happen in the BJP, saying that there should be no difference in the words and deeds of party leaders.
He also urged the party leaders and workers to steer clear of personality degradation and credibility crisis.
Singh said the BJP was the only party in the country to have a specific ideology. He added that where the two national parties - Congress and Communist Party of India - have witnessed a vertical divide many a time, the BJP right from its inception as Jana Sangh in 1951 has remained undivided.
“Some may have left, while others joined but that is a separate issue and it happens with every party,” Singh said, calling upon the workers to work with full dedication for the party and its ideology.
“We do politics for society building and not only for forming the government and I hope that whether in power or not whether on a post or not you will continue to work with full dedication,” he added.
‘India has become current account deficit under UPA rule’
Taking a jibe on the Congress, the BJP national chief said, “India has become a current account deficit country in the nine-year United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule.
“The country is going through a crisis and the time has come to make a Congress-free country. Only BJP can save the country,” said Singh.
Referring to a study by Investment Banking Institute, Singh said the report revealed that the crisis through which Indian economy was going, there was no hope of revival.
“Inflation, fiscal deficit and current account deficit has increased while our export has declined and there is devaluation of rupee,” Singh said, adding, “India has become current account deficit country in the UPA regime.”
He said, “The Congress has ruled the country for most of the time in these 65 years after Independence, but still there is a situation that the government is forced to bring national food security ordinance.”
“Why such a situation is still prevailing? Can’t we make our people self-reliant?” asked Singh, adding that both the policies and intention of the Congress were wrong.
Quoting an NSSO report, Singh said out of all roads constructed in 65 years of Independence, half of them were laid during the NDA regime. He said NDA created over 6 crore job opportunities in its regime, while the UPA in two terms created only 27 lakh.
He called upon the party workers to save the country and throw the Congress out of power for which all party-men need to work hard. He also lashed out at the Congress for deteriorating internal and external security, particularly repeated incursion into the Indian territory by China. “Our country is lacking diplomatic skills under the UPA regime,” he said.
