A day after a 21-year-old woman’s semi-nude body was found dumped near NH-24, the Noida police on Sunday claimed to have cracked the murder case with the arrest of two men.

The woman, a resident of Chotpur colony, used to work in an export firm in Noida Sector 65. She had been missing since Friday and her body was found on Saturday morning near NH-24 at Sector 63.

Those arrested have been identified as Naresh and Kailash while their accomplice, Udayveer Yadav, is still at large Naresh used to work in the same firm as the victim and was close friends with her, police said.

“Naresh had promised to marry her but she later found that he was already married and had cheated her. During interrogation, Naresh confessed that the victim had threatened him about filing a police complaint,” said a senior police officer.

“Naresh got scared and plotted her murder. He picked her after office and took her to an under-construction site in Sector 63 where Kailash and Udayveer joined him,” the officer added.

The police said it was not confirmed whether the woman was raped.

“It is too soon to comment what exactly happened. But after examining the scene of crime, we are suspecting the accused tried to rape her. We are still waiting for the medical report,” said Praveen Kumar, senior superintendent of police.

"We are carrying out raids to arrest Udayveer,” added Kumar.
