The Dalai Lama emphasised on ahimsa, peace and tolerance for each other and urged students to create an India that was stable, healthy, and strong on morals and ethics.

"There should not be discrimination against the gay community. It is a choice people make and I do not have a problem with it", he responded to a student who asked him what his views were on discrimination against the gay community.

The Dalai Lama enjoyed every moment he spent in the school, patiently answering questions by students.

The Dalai Lama's infectious laughter, simplicity and warmth won the children over.

"Why do we find being compassionate so difficult?", "How can you be so compassionate with those who have caused you grief?" and many more such questions left him thinking and speaking at length.

The overarching goal of the conclave was to cultivate more compassionate educational spaces so that students and teachers respect difference in a non-judgmental and non-prejudicial manner.

The conclave, designed to create a collaborative and non-competitive space for young people was organised by Step by Step School Noida with Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP), an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility of the Dalai Lama and the Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access.
