After HT carried a report on how a Norwegian woman was being harassed for lodging police complaints about the mysterious death of 10 stray dogs in her NSG Black Cat Enclave area, the UP Police has finally swung into action and lodged an FIR against unidentified persons.
Also, Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Preetinder Singh has ordered an inquiry into the case. He has asked police officials to identify the dog killers and those who harassed the woman and her 16-year-old daughter, at the earliest.
“We have lodged an FIR. Investigation into the case to nab people who killed 10 stray dogs has started. We hope to catch the culprits, who as per the FIR first killed the dogs and then harassed the complainant and her daughter,” said Deepak Sharma, police official at the Kasna police station.
The Norwegian national, Maria Fredrick, had first lodged an FIR at this police station.
The SSP said it was a harassment case and strict action would be taken against the culprits. “I have asked the Kasna station house officer (SHO) and circle officer-1 to look into the case. They are likely to submit their report by tomorrow. We will provide the best security to the woman and her daughter. Also, we will ensure that culprits are arrested soon,” he said.
The animal lover has been receiving obscene phone calls and threatened to withdraw the complaint.
Fredrick, a widow, stays with her daughter Macdlina. Fredrick has alleged that she and her daughter, who studies in Class 11 at a private school, are stalked every time they venture out.
Disappointed of police inaction, she sent two carcasses of dogs to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which in the postmortem reports said that the animals had died of suffocation.
