Seven teachers of a private school were booked on Saturday for allegedly sexually harassing 15 girl students of Classes 8 and 9 at Damonjodi in Odisha’s Koraput district.

District child protection officer, Koraput, Rajshree Das said she received several complaints against the teachers and inquired into the allegations at the school on July 19.

“During inquiry, about 15 girl students of Classes 8 and 9 complained that they were being sexually harassed by the seven teachers and identified them,” Das said.

The girl students said the teachers harassed them in classrooms, libraries and on the school lawns, the officer said.

“On the direction of the district administration, a complaint was lodged against the seven teachers at Damanjodi police station after the students gave a written complaint to us,” she said.

Necessary action will be taken once inquiry is completed, IIC Damanjodi police station Jayant Behera said.
