For prompt registration of first information reports (FIRs) in electricity theft cases, the vigilance wing of the Haryana power utilities has started an online system for submitting complaints under the Criminal Investigation Management System (CIMS).

Devender Singh, chairman and managing director of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), has directed the field officials to lodge FIRs on account of electricity theft through the web-based online system within 24 hours of detection of theft.

Singh said training has already been imparted to all field officials concerned.

On lodging an online complaint of power theft, it will be compulsorily registered, he said.
