Odisha chief minister and BJD supremo on Wednesday expelled Tatwa Prakash Satpathy from the party. Satpathy is an Odia filmstar-turned politician , embroiled in a host of criminal cases including sexual harassment of a minor, casting couch and links with a chit fund company owner now in police custody.
“The BJD president has taken the decision following an inquiry by the party,” Cooperation minister Damodar Rout said.
Satpathy, better known by his screen name Papu Pompom, had joined BJD before the 2014 elections and unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections.
Pompom has gone into hiding after Bhubaneswar police on Monday booked him and an associate of his for allegedly sexually harassing the 16-year-old minor girl and asking for sexual favour to an upcoming actress after a government approved child welfare committee (CWC) found prima facie evidence in the allegations.
The Bhubaneswar police has formed a special team to nab Pompom.
Pompom is a popular among film buffs for his comic roles in Odia films. He is the lead actor in some of the films while he is also part of several TV serials.
