Inspector General BSF (Jammu frontiers) Rajesh Sharma said it’s for the Pakistan to defuse the tension but India will retaliate in equal measure if it is fired at.
“Pakistan rangers started firing at about 10 pm Saturday night targeting out 25 posts. The firing continued till early Sunday morning at about 7am. India also fired back in a retaliatory action in equal terms,” BSF official said.
Though there was no reports of human causality but three cows were killed in Treva border village in Arnia sector, about 30-km from the Jammu city.
It was one of the fiercest retaliatory action by the India on Sunday after two people had died in Pakistan firing. BSF rangers restricted the movement of the civilians in the areas targeted by the Pakistan in the night, to avoid any kind of causality.
There have been 30 incidents of the firing by the Pakistan since July 16, when one BSF jawan had died in firing from across the border.
“The intensity of the fire was never seen before. Though it was scary, but it also gives us a comforting feeling that India has now finally decided to act tough against Pakistan,” said Ratan Chand, resident of Abdullian.
People from the adjoining Arnia sector, which was also targeted, had also migrated to safer place, taking the number of people of who had left home to about 4,000, mostly females, children and elderly people. For the last three-day they are putting up in government buildings in RS Pura and now arrangements have been made in Arnia also.
Males of the families, who had migrated, are staying back as they had to attend their livestock and are staying in the bunkers in the night for safety.
Pakistan has specifically targeting civilians and firing mortar shells to inflict maximum injuries.
