As news spread, people of the area started making a beeline to have a darshan of the articles that the purohit claims to have dug out following his dream.

Station officer Manda police station, AK Singh who rushed to the temple on the premises of the Raja’s Palace has dubbed the entire episode as a figment of the purohit’s imagination. At first, the SO tried to question him but later had to retrace his steps because of increasing public pressure.

The Hanuman temple near which gold was claimed to have been stuck is situated in one corner of the Manda Palace.

According to Raj Purohit Shiv Kumar Upadhyay, he saw the gold articles hidden at a depth of 50 feet in dream during Navratri.

Sheetla Mata who appeared in the dream directed the purohit to take out the articles following a havan.

Prior to the havan, the purohit was directed to dig a pit.

The purohit dug up a pit of one feet radius.

It was covered with a lid and a havan followed.

The purohit claims he carried out the havan that lasted till 5.30 in the morning.

The Devi’s ‘pind’ and ‘asan’, along with a coconut, could be seen by him as he lifted the lid from the pit.

As news spread, people started rushing to the temple with flowers and garlands.

Two constables have been posted at the temple.

“We are trying to ascertain the truth behind the purohit’s claim at the moment,” said SSP Umesh Srivastava.
