The Mumbai police are waiting for Bollywood actor and co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, Preity Zinta to return from abroad before furthering investigation into her complaint of molestation against ex-boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia.

“We are waiting for Ms. Zinta to return from abroad to record her supplementary statement. That will give us clarity into the allegations,” Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria told HT on Sunday in reply to a question on the progress of the probe and the possible questioning of Wadia who too is reportedly out of the country.

Maria made it clear that the police have so far not recorded the statement of any witness.

To a question whether the CCTV footages obtained by the police had been helpful to the investigation, Maria said that the initial footages given to the police were mostly of the match. Meanwhile, sources in the Marine Drive police station told HT that two persons who had witnessed the spat, as claimed by Zinta’s lawyer, were ‘contacted’ on Sunday.

“Their statement will be recorded tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday,” sources said.

In a written complaint to police on Thursday, Zinta had alleged that during a match on May 30, Wadia came up to her, grabbed her by the hand and started hurling abuses in front of others.
