Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has set a three-month schedule for herself to revamp the Congress in Rae Bareli, the Lok Sabha constituency represented by her mother and party president Sonia Gandhi.

To accomplish this, Priyanka is working on a revival plan formulated after meetings with Congress workers, office bearers and voters of Rae Bareli.

Priyanka, who has started holding a weekly public ‘darbar’ in Delhi, met party leaders from the constituency on August 1 and 8. The next round of interactions will be held towards end of this month, most likely on August 29.

“Priyanka has set a self-imposed deadline of three months to rejuvenate the party in the constituency,” said a state party leader who met her on August 1. Over the next three months, she is expected to work on a two-pronged strategy — to reestablish contact with ground-level workers and identify developmental issues related to the constituency so work can immediately begin on them.

The recent assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh saw the Congress relegated to fourth position, winning 26 out of the total 403 seats. In the Gandhi family pocket borough of Rae Bareli, Amethi and Sultanpur, it won two of the 15 seats. In Rae Bareli alone, it won no seats.
