Congress president Sonia Gandhi was accompanied by her daughter Priyanka Vadra during a public event in Allahabad on Tuesday.
Sonia was in the city for the inauguration of a photo exhibition on the life of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Swaraj Bhawan on Monday, an event which her son and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi also attended.
On Tuesday, the duo attended the launch of a special programme of the School of Health Sciences at Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital where she addressed members of the Kamala Nehru Trust in a closed meeting.
They later spent some time at Anand Bhawan, the Nehru family’s ancestral house which has been turned into a museum. Sonia then met select Congress leaders at Swaraj Bhawan.
Sonia and Priyanka also paid their respects to former MP governor and ex-UP chief minister Ram Naresh Yadav who passed away on Tuesday as well as freedom fighter and former City Congress Committee president (Allahabad), Ram Krishna Srivastava, who died recently.
After their engagements, the duo left for New Delhi while Rahul had already left Allahabad on Monday night.
The presence of Priyanka Gandhi at a public event comes at a time when several sections of the party have asked for her active participation in the party’s campaign in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming assembly elections.
