A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a Class 12 student at Hadapsar, an eastern suburb in Pune, on Tuesday. Police arrested the accused and identified him as Abishek Shinde, saying he was not a minor.
Shinde attacked the child in the morning at a ground where she had gone with her younger sister to answer nature’s call. Frightened, the younger child ran screaming to their house in a slum nearby. By the time the parents, labourers at a construction site, reached the ground, Shinde had fled leaving the child unconscious, police said. The child’s description of the rapist’s dress — black trouser and white shirt, the uniform of a local college — helped the police zero in on Shinde.
