Yoga guru and Narendra Modi admirer Baba Ramdev on Wednesday mocked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s remark that Congress was in the DNA of the country, saying the Gandhi scion was only “half-Indian”.
"The shahzada (prince) is immature. He should not comment on India's DNA because he is not a complete Indian,” said Ramdev, who has been campaigning for BJP's PM candidate Modi for the 2014 general elections.
"We all know that half of his DNA is Italian,” said Ramdev who was in Jharkhand capital to flag off NaMo Patang Mahotsav, a kite flying festival organised by BJP supporters to mark Makar Sankranti.
Rahul had on Sunday told a Hindi daily that “Congress is in the DNA of this country and the “BJP does not understand that it alone alone is the political power that has kept people of this country united.”
Ramdev also likened RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, who is getting closer to the Congress in the run up to the general elections, to Kans, the mythical evil ruler and uncle of Lord Krishna.
“Lord Krishna, Kans and Prasad have the common origins, but Lalu has been influenced more by Kans than Krishna…Lalu has Kans’ genes," Ramdev said.
The yoga guru said Lalu was busy in “Sonia-bhakti (worship of Congress president Sonia Gandhi)” and is “ignorant about the country's fate”.
He also crticised the Arvind Kejiriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for forming an alliance with the "most corrupt party in the world" and forgetting its own goals.
“Kejriwal is lost as his words and actions don’t complement each other,” he said.
