Life was badly hit in all parts of the district on Tuesday following heavy rains since Monday. Worst affected were schoolchildren who got wet in the afternoon when the schools closed for the day.
Following heavy rains, the Beas river and its tributaries were in spate and those living on the banks have been asked not to venture out during rain. Vehicular traffic has been hit due to the falling of debris on roads. Labourers with the public works department had difficulty in clearing the debris.
Rain is beneficial for the growth of kharif crops. Farmers view that if rains continued, they will be able to get bumper maize crops this time.
The district administration has asked its agencies to submit reports of any losses so that a report is sent to the Himachal Pradesh government.
