“The team will try to get him back as soon as possible,” Jaipur ACP Biju George Joseph said on Sunday.

Bitti, who had jumped parole in 2006 while serving a prison term in Rajasthan for raping a German tourist and lived as Raghav Raj for more than six years, spent a sullen day at Payyanur sub-jail in northern Kerala’s Kannur city.

“He was disturbed and largely silent and kept repeating that his father had not helped him construct his new life as a bank employee,” a senior Kerala Police officer said.
