The adage — Where there’s a will, there’s a way — was proved true by a Ranchi-based couple on Thursday.

On failing to find their names in the voters’ list, a man and his wife slogged for several hours, first approaching the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Jharkhand and later ringing up the Election Commission’s office in New Delhi.

The labour did not go in vain as a supplementary list incorporating the two names was arranged for to enable them to cast votes.

Meet Saurabh Kumar (46) and his wife Nilima Devi (46), who were surprised when they found their names missing from the voters’ list in the morning. The couple reached booth no 292 at DAV School, Bariatu, around 7.30am.

“We had added our names to the electoral roll on March 6. Our names showed on the EC website,” Kumar said.
