Modi kites, Modi tea stalls and now there are Modi pichkaris (spray guns) to spray saffron colours this Holi.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, pichkaris with the Narendra Modi tag are selling like hot cakes in the coal belt and just behind in the pichkari race are the ones named after upstart AAP’s Kejriwal and Congress’ Rahul. Bollywood stars are the last in the Holi race.

“I saw a variety of spray guns in the market with the tag of political leaders, Bollywood stars and cricket players. But,  I chose the Modi-Pichkari as it seems that Narendra Modi would be our next Prime Minister,”said Namrata Thakur, resident of Nutandih area, purchasing one for her cousin in Class 8. However, Namrata said she had no more interest in politics but wanted to see Narendra Modi once as the Prime Minister.

The shopkeepers too are happy and busy in cashing on the demand for these spray guns. “People are asking for Modi, Rahul or Kejariwal ones,”said Ramesh, a shopkeeper at Hirapur Hatia, who is happy with hot sale this Holi.

According to the shopkeepers Modi-pichkari is the highest in demand as it costs between `30 and `200. The Rahul and the Kejariwal ones cost range begins from `15. Besides the other pichkaris with the tags of Bollywood stars and cricket players are out of race.

Mukesh Pandey, President, BJP Yuva Morcha has purchased Modi spray guns in bulk. He said the Modi wave had even swept the Holi market.
