Police reveal Maoist plan to target leaders

Maoists may step up attacks on contesting candidates across Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh, say the police quoting revelation by a Maoist activist, who was arrested with four others in the district recently.

The district police and the security forces had made the arrests on March 12 from Gawan and Tisri police stations respectively .

At least 25 detonators, a country-made pistol, four live cartridges, Maoist literature, a motorcycle and other gadgets were recovered from their
possession.

The arrested Maoists were identified as Tej Narayan Rai, Ashok Rai, Agustin Hasda, Banravi Marandi and Adhik Yadav.

All are residents of Bihar and Jharkhand.

Giridih superintendent of police Kranti Kumar Gadidesi said that after getting inputs regarding activities of the Maoists, the police and the security forces had launched a massive manhunt and search operations across the region.

"Actually, Tej Narayan and Ashok, who were on their way to receiving other members of their organisation, were arrested from a remote location in Gawan. The security personnel further acted on the basis of the inputs given by them and caught three other members of the organisation. Tej Narayan and Ashok have confessed to having involvement in the recent killing of a villager near Bhelwaghati. The others too admitted their involvement in various Maoists attacks and related activities across the region," Gadidesi added.

The arrested activists revealed to the police that they had got a clear instructions from 'above’.
