The principal of a public school in Odisha’s Sambalpur district has been arrested for allegedly molesting four minor girl students.

Police said on Friday they arrested K Prasanna Kumar (47), principal of a residential school in Gariabahal village of the district, about 450 km east of Bhubaneswar, on Thursday evening after the father of one of the girls lodged a complaint.

The 14-year-old girl told the police that for the past one year the principal had been misbehaving with her and three others, all of whom were staying in the hostel.

Some of the girls had earlier brought the matter to the notice of the school management but no action was taken, she said.

She said told her parents about it when the principal’s overtures became unbearable.

On Tuesday, police had arrested a teacher of another public school in the district on charge of molesting an 8-year-old girl.
