Revenue minister Ajaz Ahmed Khan on Thursday held a public grievance redressal camp at Arnas, Reasi district, and inspected various ongoing restoration works. Deputy commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and other district officers also attended the meeting.

Ajaz laid the foundation stone of a revenue complex at Arnas to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.8 crore and also distributed relief cheques to families affected by recent rains.

The minister appreciated the district administration for presenting relief cheques in 191 cases in five days.

The deputy commissioner said further camps will be held at Pouni, Reasi, Mahore, Thakrakote, Katra, Chassana and other places for immediate distribution of relief in the next few days.

The minister issued instructions for immediate blacktopping of Thanpal road, construction of new school buildings, bridges and restoration of PMGSY, PWD, RDD roads, irrigation canals and PHE schemes in a time-bound manner.

Later, in a meeting of officers, he called for bringing the area on tourism map and also announced Rs. 15 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for construction of a hut at Daggan Top for facilitating the visitors to this picturesque remote area. The DC informed that work shall be executed through the forest department immediately.

The revenue minister also expressed satisfaction over steps taken by the DC regarding de-centralised relief distribution.
