Sadhvi Prachi backs Sonu Nigam, demands ban on loudspeakers during azaan
Attacking SP leader Azam Khan, she dared him to shun his security cover.
Supporting singer Sonu Nigam over his controversial tweets on “forced religiousness”, Hindu leader Sadhvi Prachi advocated a ban on the use of loudspeakers during azaan.
“What Sonu Nigam observed (in his tweet) is absolutely correct,” she said, adding “Khuda (God) can hear even without loudspeakers.”
“Had it been otherwise, let them explain how they communicated when there were no loudspeakers,” she asked.
Sonu Nigam attracted controversy when he complained on Twitter against the use of loudspeakers for religious purposes, on April 17.
“No one is opposed to prayers within the Masjids (mosques) but use of loudspeakers causes inconveniences to people and so their use should be stopped,” the controversial leader demanded.
She expressed these views while talking to reporters on Tuesday. She was in Lakhimpur Kheri to attend a religious programme in a village.
Attacking SP leader Azam Khan, she dared him to shun his security cover. Citing her own example, the leader said she herself received many threats every month, yet she never asked for any security cover.
“Even the Samajwadi Party people issued threats to me yet I preferred to move without any security cover,” she said and added, “no VIP security status is needed to serve the country.”
“His own misdemeanours are causing fear to him,” she alleged.
