On the eve of Christmas celebrations, internationally renowned sand artiste Sudarsan Pattnaik on Tuesday created the world’s biggest sand sculpture of Lord Jesus on the beach of Puri in Odisha breaking his own Limca Book of World Records feat.Pattnaik – who has won several international sand sculpture championships – created the 35 feet high and 75 feet wide sculpture using 1000 tonnes of sand. He also erected sand sculptures of Santa Clause and Mother Mary along with the main sculpture with the message “World Peace”.

“It took me three days to create the work. I was assisted by 25 students of my sand academy, Sudarsan Sand Art Institute of Puri,” Pattnaik told HT.
Pattnaik holds seven earlier records in the Limca Book of Records, including one in 2007 for erecting the world’s biggest sand sculpture of Lord Jesus with a height of 22 feet.
Four days back, Pattnaik had expressed his desire to authorities of Limca Book of Records to create a bigger sculpture of Lord Jesus. “I received an official letter from the Limca Book of Record’s senior editor Arthy Muthanna Singh to proceed," he said.
