The principal of a government primary school in Mukatgarhi in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district was arrested on Saturday after a woman teacher filed a police complaint accusing him of molesting and assaulting her.

The principal, Tej Singh, who was later released on bail, termed the allegations baseless and motivated.

According to the complainant, soon after recording her attendance around 8am on Saturday, she got busy in some chores when the principal entered the room and bolted it from inside.

The teacher said Tej Singh molested her and when she resisted, started beating her.

When she raised an alarm, school staff rushed to the room and she managed to open the door.

The staff members immediately called the police control room and within minutes, police officials reached the school and arrested the principal. An FIR has been registered in the case.

According to the woman, this was the second time that the principal molested her. She said he had molested her two months back as well but at the time she had chosen to remain quite.

Ram Kumar Gupta, the police station in-charge in Madrak under which Mukatgarhi falls, said investigation was underway and the truth would come out soon.

Aligarh City MLA Sanjiv Raja and Kol MLA Anil Parashar urged police to take stern action.

BB Pande, the officer in-charge of basic education, said, “It is a serious allegation. Reports have been demanded from police and the division education officer. On the basis of those reports, we will take a decision about the accused’s suspension, termination or any other course of action.”
