Mizoram police arrested seven youths, including four minors, for gang raping a minor girl, police said in Aizwal on Tuesday.

"The accused youths gang raped a 14-year-old girl at Leite village (in Lunglei district) in southern Mizoram Sunday night," a police official said.

He said the victim had eloped with her lover, who was accompanied by his seven friends.

"When the girl's friend returned home to get his wallet which he had forgotten while leaving his house in a hurry, his friends gang raped the girl," the official added.

The boy later informed the police who arrested the youths Monday.

The victim has been admitted to a hospital.

Of the arrested youths, four are aged 14-16 years while the remaining are in the age group of 19 to 21 years.
