Should the PM visit Comlombo? Here's what readers say

A week ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo, the government is still divided on the level of participation and now the top Congress leadership is expected to take a call on Friday on whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should travel to Sri Lanka to attend the event.

The government is in a spot over the issue with some sections feeling the PM’s absence at the CHOGM could affect India's image internationally and India would also miss a chance to push for the cause of Tamil population there.

People took to Twitter and other social networking sites to express their views on the issue. Comments ranged from readers saying that Manmohan Singh's visit wouldn't make any difference while some were of the opinion that he must attend the meeting and defuse the tension between the two countries through proactive diplomacy.

A poll conducted by the Hindustan Times, sought the views of the readers on the issue. While a majority of voters believed that the Prime Minister should attend the CHOGM meeting in Colombo, there were some who believed otherwise. Here are the results.
