The Sirsa police on Thursday arrested six persons, including two minors, on a charge of harassing schoolgirls.

The accused, identified as Mohit Kumar, Ritesh Kumar, Raghav Kumar, Ashwani Kumar (all in early 20s) and two minors, all residents of the district, have been booked for outraging modesty of women, criminal intimidation and under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act here.

The police said they had received a complaint in this regard from the parents of the girls, who studied in a reputed English-medium school here, that the accused were harassing their wards sexually en route from home to school and vice-versa.

Sources said the accused used to tail a group of girls on motorcycles when the girls used to travel in an auto-rickshaw. They even used to click their photographs and use indecent language to lure girls.

The police had registered a case against all accused on March 9, but sensing police action they had reportedly fled the district. City station house officer (SHO) Suresh Pal said: "The accused have been produced in the court on Thursday and have been sent to judicial custody."
