Less than three weeks after the Congress announced the creation of Telangana, Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, a Congressman, on Sunday accused the opposition and media of “hatching a grand master plan” to divide the country into small constituents.

The plan, Chavan said, includes weakening the country first by installing a weak government at the Centre and then dividing the country into small states.

“The opposition and the media have a grand master plan to weaken the country. They know their plan will not be successful unless they replace the Congress government with an alliance government in which 10-15 parties will run the country.”

Speaking at a women Congress workers’ meet in Pune district, Chavan also hit out at the BJP’s campaign committee chief, Narendra Modi, saying he was being funded from abroad for his campaign.
