A case has been registered against Delhi resident Amit Kumar, who allegedly bought the child. When the police raided Kumar’s Ranjit Nagar home on Tuesday, they found the child was ill and undergoing treatment at Sir Gangaram Hospital.

Baby’s maternal grandfather Feroze Khan, his aide, Irfan, and a nurse, Sunita, and an assistant, Gurpreet Singh, both employees of Ludhiana’s Satyam Hospital, where the baby was delivered, have been arrested. The police recovered Rs. 44,500 from them.

Noori, who gave birth to the boy at Satyam hospital on April 3, lodged a police complaint against her father and his aides.

A week later, her father Feroze Khan abducted the child when she was sleeping, assistant commissioner of police (east) Satish Malhotra said. She later got to know that he had sold off her son with the help of Sunita for Rs. 45,000. The police questioned Sunita and Gurpreet, who admitted selling the child to Amit. Gurpreet was the one who allegedly struck the Rs. 8-lakh deal with Amit on Facebook and also sent him pictures of the newborn, the ACP said.
