Soldiers in the Indian army, navy and air force will be receive salaries as per the seventh pay commission from this month onwards following orders issued by the chairman of the chiefs of staff committee (CoSC), air chief marshal Arup Raha.
Issued on Friday, the orders indicate that the government resolved the “anomalies” pointed out by the chiefs of the airforce and navy to defence minister Manohar Parikkar in a meeting earlier this week.
On September 9, the three services told their formations that they had asked the government to hold “in abeyance” the implementation of the central pay commission in view of the “unresolved anomalies”.
Parrikar even got the gazette notification announcing the 7th Pay Commission amended to make sure the military retains its edge over the Central Armed Police Forces. The forces argued that the anomalies were over the status and pay parity of forces vis-a-vis their counterparts in the police and civilian administration.
