Himachal may get extension of special industrial package after Mandi bypoll, state industry minister Mukesh Agnihotri said here on Sunday.

Agnihotri's statement on Sunday came after he and chief minister Virbhadra Singh raised the issue of enhancing the special industrial package to the state in writing to the United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, union finance minister P Chidambaram and commerce and industries minister Anand Sharma.

Agnihotri said the previous BJP state government had failed to enhance the period of industrial package when it was in power. "Consistent efforts of tegh state government would result in a financial package for the state, besides extension of the special package," said the industries minister.

Ruling out BJP's allegation of lack of coordination between the state government and Centre, Agnihotri said Himachal Pradesh was getting cooperation of all UPA senior leaders.
