October 9, 2016/Lucknow: At Mayawati’s rally at Kanshiram Memorial in Lucknow two women died and 13 other persons were injured in a rush to get out of the rally venue soon after Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati had left the venue.
November 22, 2014/Badaun:One woman died in a stampede at an event held in Badaun to mark Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav’s 75th birthday. The stampede occurred when Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav was distributing blankets at the event.
February 11, 2013/Allahabad: Thirty-six (36) pilgrims died in a stampede at Railway station. The pilgrims were moving toward the foot over bridge to catch train when it was announced that platform has been changed as the crowd started pushing back and few pilgrims slipped from the over bridge leading to panic. Majority of the dead were women.
March 4, 2010/Pratapgarh: Sixty-three (63) people were killed and over 100 injured as a stampede took place at Ram Janki Temple in Pratapgarh. The incident is believed to have occurred as an unfinished gate of the temple fell, creating panic among the devotees gathered to collect free food and clothes on the death anniversary of wife of Kripalu Maharaj.
April 12, 2004/Lucknow: Twently-one (21) women were killed in a stampede while collecting free saree distributed to celebrate 70th birthday of BJP leader Lalji Tandon. The woman had gathered in a small park located in Mahanagar locality. In a bid to grab the saree the mob crushed those sitting near the dais.
September 28, 2002/Lucknow: Sixteen (16) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers were killed and 63 were injured in a stampede at Charbagh Railway station. The incident took place after an elderly woman slipped from the foot over-bridge leading to panic. The workers started running and those standing on the over bridge were crushed.
