Gujarat may be the poster boy of development, but the state has prospered in real manner, which is evident according to the comparative data revealed by National Sample Survey Organisation(NSSO) on Monday, Rohtak MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra said here.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Batra said: "Chief minister Narender Modi's Gujarat has slid from fourth to eight ranking in states for rural spends and from seventh to ninth in urban expenditure."

Notably, NSSO conducted an analysis of data on monthly per capita spending between 2011-12 and 1999-2000, on several growth indicators, including rural and urban spends.

He said: "Consumption expenditure of people in Gujarat is growing at a slower rate than the national average, according to a comparative analysis of data on monthly per capita spending." On the performance of the state in this analysis, he said: "Haryana is No 1 in urban household category, which is seconded by Kerala, followed by Maharastra and Karnatka."

In rural household also, the state is on the third rank, lower than Kerala (first in household) and Punjab (second in rural household).

He alleged that NaMo had shown favour to a few selected capitalists' where nothing had been done for the common man, while Hooda had ushered a change in the state in making it number one.
