The Haryana unit of the Congress will soon have its website with a complete database of the party workers.
The co-incharge of the state unit, Asha Kumari, told the media in Panipat on Sunday that the party leadership was planning to issue identity cards to its registered members. She and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Phool Chand Mullana were in Panipat to convene a district-level meeting.
Fissures in the party emerged as five-time legislator from Panipat (urban) Balbir Pal Shah and Karnal parliamentarian Arvind Sharma did not attend the meeting. District Congress committee president (rural) Jagdev Malik said he had informed all leaders, including Shah and Sharma, but the district unit was unaware of they not attending the meeting. The media was not allowed to cover the meeting.
On Saturday, Mullana and Kumari faced a rough reception in Yamunanagar where warring leaders of various factions of the Congress had created a ruckus. Mullana had objected to the media's presence at the Yamunanagar meeting.
Meanwhile, Mullana said the issue of appointing the new HPCC chief was under the ambit of the party high command.
Kumari and Mullana ruled out any factionalism in the party and said all leaders took UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as their leader.
