I have been living in Gurgaon for years and have found intercity transportation in a deplorable state, thanks to poor planning of the government which is not serious about upgrading the roadways and railways simultaneously.
In context of Gurgaon, the roadways and railways both matter a lot as people in large fraction still commute in railways because it is much cheaper than roadways and they also find it comfortable.
I have a very noble suggestion for the state government as well as the railway ministry in this regard.
The state government should look seriously into present utility of railway tracks and frequency of trains and accordingly enhance the system.
My prime intention is that the state government should request the railways to put more or maximum number of trains on the Delhi-Gurgaon-Rewari line and upgrade the condition which is pathetic at present.
I also appeal to the state government to connect city’s every nook and corner with the railway station so that passengers prefer trains over road transport which is tiresome and inconvenient in many ways.
The stations are managed badly, with poor maintenance and causing disgust to qualified passengers who think railways is meant for poor people.
The government or railway authorities should not ignore the fact that people pay R10 to R30 in the Metro even for a short distance because they like travelling in it. This is promoting people to use the safest mode for transport and the Indian Railways as a whole should adopt its model.
Railway tracks have been built at the cost of prime land using public money but are underutilised unfortunately.
