Sushma attacks PM, terms UPA insensitive, corrupt

The articulate Bharitya Janta party (BJP) leader and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj on Saturday launched a scathing attack against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh terming him the head of most corrupt and insensitive government of India.

Addressing an election rally at Palampur, Swaraj said the nation going through difficult times as the prime minister who should take the responsibility was shifting the blame for scams on ministers.

“Prime Minister is heading the cabinet but when he is asked give clarification on scams he try to shift blames on his colleagues. He cannot escape responsibility and is accountable to the people," said Swaraj.

Describing UPA government as most corrupt and insensitive government, Swaraj said the reason behind the terms she used was that the government was not only responsible for ever soaring inflation but breaking its own record in corruption.

Firebrand BJP leaders alleged  the UPA government was totally insensitive to the plight of the common man reeling under rising prices and the decision to cap the number of subsidised LPG cylinders to six has burdened the common masses.

Striking an emotional chord with the female electors, Swaraj said it was women was the victim of present governments wrong decision and despite being a women Congress’s president who is also an women has failed to realize what problems women are facing.

“I have raised the issue in every parliament sessions continues but it seems that these rulers in Delhi have shut their eyes and ears,” said Swaraj adding that whenever opposition try to start a debate on inflation Congress leaders give sophistic logics. 

“There are only two reasons behind skyrocketing prices of essential commodities wrong polices of government and corruption by the ministers. In every session a new scam surfaces,” said Swaraj adding that the government was involved in corruption on the earth, beneath the earth and in the sky in form of CWG, Coalgate and 2G. 

She also hit out at Himachal Congress Chief, Virbhadra Singh for his alleged involvement in unaccounted money transactions with ISPAT Group.

Accusing the UPA government of betraying the country by allowing FDI in retail, Sawraj alleged the move has put livelihood of 12 crore small traders on stake.

“UPA government has "betrayed" the people of the country by backing out from the solemn assurance given in Parliament by then finance minister (now president) Pranab Mukherjee, and Union minister for commerce and industry, Anand Sharma that all stakeholders and the political parties would be consulted and the decision would be taken only after consensus is arrived,” alleged Swaraj. 

Maintaining that BJP was not against FDI in infrastructure development, Swaraj said FDI in not acceptable in farm- barn of common people.

“There move may lit some the big cities with neon lights but future of 12 crore families will plummet into darkness,” said Swaraj.

Heaping praises on state BJP government, Swaraj said the government was dedicated and sensitive government which make her feel proud.

“This government has been awarded with 72 national and international prizes for its visionary work. Every family and section of society was benefited by welfare schemes being run by state,” said Swaraj.

She called upon the electors to cast their votes wisely and teach a lesson to the Congress party which has pushed the country into uncertainty.

Earlier, Santosh Shailja- wife of BJP national vice president, Shanta Kumar welcomed Swaraj on behalf of her husband who busy in election campaign in Shimla and Solan. 

The BJP candidates from all the fours assembly segments of Palampur subdivision were also accompanied her.

Sushma evades quarries about allegations of corruption against Gadkari.

Swaraj later evaded the questions posed to her by media people about allegations of corrupt dealings against BJP president Nitin Gadkari. "Gadkari has himself said that he is ready to face a probe," said Swaraj.
