A Vadodara-based tea seller Kiran Mahida, who had proposed prime minister designate Narendra Modi’s candidature as BJP candidate from Vadodara, has got an invite to attend the swearing-in ceremony in the national capital.
On Saturday, Mahida received a call from BJP headquarters in Delhi to attend the swearing-in function.
Besides him, Vadodara royal family member Shubhanginidevi Gaekwad, who had also proposed Modi’s candidature, has also been invited for the swearing in function.
Newly - appointed chief minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel and her entire cabinet will also be attending the oath-taking function of Modi, who resigned as Gujarat chief minister on May 21 after 12-year tenure.
However, there was no confirmation whether any family member of Modi has been invited for the function. On Friday, Modi’s estranged wife Jashodaben had told the local media that “if invited, she would go and attend the function.”
“Narendrabhai does not invite family members for any function so it is unlikely that any of his family member has been invited this time. In December 2012, his mother Hiraba had come at the swearing in on her own,” a Gujarat BJP leader said.
In addition to ministers and bureaucrats, some industry players Gautam Adani of Adani group, Parimal Nathwani of RIL and Sudhir Mehta of Torrent will be attending the function in the national capital.
