Even before the dust could settle following the rape and murder of three minor sisters and the rape of a minor school girl, another incident shocked Bhandara. A school teacher was arrested on Monday evening for molesting nine minor school girls.

Reports reaching here on Tuesday said that the accused teacher Raju Bagde allegedly molested the girls, all studying in Std.  IX in government run ZP High School and Junior College at Mohadi, some 80 kms from here in eastern Maharashtra. The incident took place when the girls came to the school on February 16 evening to prepare for a farewell function for the Std. X.

Bagde teaches English and heads the school’s evening coaching classes and therefore, keeps a key of the school room for the purpose. When the girls came to the school on February 16 evening, he allegedly called them. When the girls entered his class room, Bagde switched off the lights and then allegedly showed them an obscene video clips on his mobile and passed lewd remarks.

Bagde allegedly even touched one of the students which led the panicky girls raise an alarm. Taken aback by the girls’ reaction, Bagde let the girls leave. All the girls later narrated the episode to their parents who approached the school headmaster the next day. The headmaster, Dayalnath Malve, summoned Bagde who apologized for the incident and the matter was closed by the school authorities.

However, somebody raised the issue before the school committee chairperson, Manjusha Patre who held an emergent meeting on Monday and decided to suspend Bagde and lodge a formal complaint with the local police.
