The OU campus, nerve centre of the Telangana agitation, remained tense with students fighting pitched battles with security forces. Nearly two dozen policemen and students were injured. The campus resembled a battle ground with stones, teargas shells and rubber bullets strewn all around.

Director general of police Aravinda Rao said police were trying to restore peace. He denied reports that police had opened fire on the students on Wednesday.

Students also organised rallies and formed human chains in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Warangal, Nalgonda, Medak and Nizambad districts of Telangana region and burnt copies of the Justice Srikrishna Committee report.

The bandh called by the OU Joint Action Committee and the Telangana Joint Action Committee evoked partial response in the city but was successful in Nizamabad, Warangal, Karimnagar and Medak districts.
