Three-day Hamir fest begins

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday declared the three-day Hamir Utsav open. The fair is organised every year to honour and cherish the existence of Hamirpur district, which came up on September 1, 1972.


Singh is on his two-day visit to the district which started from Sujanpur.

He even visited the local Shiva temple and sought blessings for the well-being of the people.
Industries minister Mukesh Agnihotri, chief parliamentary secretary Inder Dutt Lakhanpal and other local Congress leaders and senior district-level officers also accompanied the CM.

The chief minister also inaugurated an exhibition pandal at the local boys' school ground and visited various exhibitions put up by the government/semi government departments and individuals.

Though it was a Sunday and shops were mostly closed, people were enthusiastic and keen to take part in the function.

Earlier, kabaddi and volleyball competitions were also held.
