Three killed as Shatabdi Express runs over them in Navsari

Three members of a family, including a four-year-old girl, were killed after being run over by a speeding train near Navsari Railway station in Navsari on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred near the Navsari railway station when Pir Mohammad Valishah Sheikh (75), wife Saherabanu (70) and ganddaughter Sania (4) were walking along the track after getting off a local train from Ahmedabad, they said.

They were ran over by Shatabdi Express coming from Mumbai which passes through Navsari station around 0940 hrs, killing the three on the spot, police said.

According to police, the Sheikh family from Gomtipur in Ahmedabad, had come to Navsari to distribute their son's wedding invitation cards among their relatives.

The matter is being investigated by the Railway police, they said.
